Does anyone have a good solution for installing curtains over the four fixed ports in the aft cabin of an H376?

Bob .....

.... If you lay your pillows on the shelf above your headboard, they cover those ports nicely. Since those ports are kind of "hanging out there" all by themselves, I often thought of velcro on either end of the port, and then some type of hook on each curtain top so each end could be pulled toward the middle and hooked together. That way, the velcro doesn't go all the way across the port and look terrible. Or, perhaps the tiny hook could be attached to the port itself so the curtain wouldn't sag...... same problem with new boat, and no real great solution yet. Jeff

H376/380 Curtains

My wife came up with a solution immediately upon buying our 380 with the same situation. Choose some gathered curtains at Sears or Target that will fit the opening (inexpensive and somewhat sheer). Glue (we used Elmers glue) a strip of velcro (hook & loop) to the material and use super glue to put the other strip of velcro on the cabin interior. We tried Elmers originally on the cabin vinyl, but it fell off. The only disadvantage is that these window coverings do not pull back or open which is just fine with my wife.

An extra to Robert's reply.

There is a tendancy for Velcro to pull the the part that is stuck to the boat off instead of the Velcro separating as it should. The solution is to put 3/" wide velcro on the boat and 1/4 wide strips ( I bought 1/2" wide and cut it down the center with scissors) on the curtains. This causes less trauma to the curtains, the velcro stuck to the boat and it is easier to remove the curtains. Dont worry, the 1/4 strips of velcro on the curtains will be more than strong enough to hold them in positon.

This system works great for fly screens also.

I have used velcro attached fly screens on my boat now for several years. They are cheep and work excellently, you can even make tent shaped ones it you have ports that open inwards and still attach them in the same manner.

Exhibitionist???

Hey, Have I been an exhibitionist all these years in my 376 and never knew. I have tried to see in from the outside and the Lexan has always seemed too dark so I have never bothered about having curtains. Now I am worried.

Curtin Solution

Buy a curtian rod long enough and sew some short curtains the color of your choice. Hang the curtain rod using metal hooks (coat hanger cut will work, but not elegant). The hooks can hang from the head liner edge. Any double ended hook will work. One hook for the rod, one for the head liner. Scott
