Hi all... Now that I have the engine compartment open, I have a few comments and questions.... First I really love the access to this part of the engine, it was always a real pain to do any work there. With that thought I though I would want to come up with a way of being able to quickly access this part of the engine easily on a regular basis. I was thinking of replacing the bulkhead with one that would easily slide out... Thought about hinges, but AP's computer and is in the way... Unlike some great AP installs, mine in on the Aft Cabins side and not on the opposite side of the wall in the dungeon.
I also cut the bunks forward underlayment into 2 sections so that I could easily unscrew it and gain access.
Has any figured out how to made this part easily accessible?
My next question, is the blue corrosion on the Shaft. Is that due to electrolysis? I'm not sure how that could happen since the boat is not bonded.
I will probably remove and glue in a new piece of laminate where the leak has caused it to delaminate. BTW, the green is the glue that held the sound proofing on.
I am going to add a T-Connection on the Engine's raw water intake and run a second hose to the bilge (not quite sure of the path yet) so that in an emergency that Engine could act as an emergency bilge pump.
If anyone sees any other issues, I would very much appreciate heading about them. Thanks... -Jon
A work of caution, (see other pic) When I removed the exhaust from the muffler, the fiberglass port of the pulled right off. That was a problem waiting to occur.
