Anyone have a vendor and a part number to replace an original 1983 H34 holding tank. Here is an older pic from 07 when I purchased it. I have cleaned this up and installed new hoses etc. my issue is last year when I replaced the clamps and hoses for the second time since I owned the boat the bottom connection hose has a slow drip. Last year I could not identify the issue if it is a crack in the tank or if there is a hole in the hose after installed? If it is the tank I would like to keep the same positions for the connections.

Thanks

Jim

Jim: Check out Ronco Plastics in So. Cal. They have over 400 different tanks available. They will custom fit the fittings to your spec. Their prices are reasonable. There is also a tank mfg back in your part of country which could save you some freight. Not sure of the name but someone will pipe in.

H 34 Holding Tank

Interesting, Jim.. The tank in mine has simple connections on the top of one side. I think this tank would work with your hoses, though you might have to use an ell in the input line. ??

Jim the 1 1/2" hose that is connected to the holding tank is of a wrong type. This hose is used for bilge pumps. See Cloud's image - this is the correct type. I just finished a holding tank project and I found that not all 1 1/2" hoses have the same internal dimension. Use heat gun to soften them then tighten the calms. In some cases since the hose did not fit snugly I used plumber's tape to make them fit better then tightened the clamps. To pin point the source of the leak place a paper towel below the leak . Then wipe with your hand to feel the origin of the leak. It is more likely that the hose is not the right size.

Thanks for the input. The last post was an old pic from 07. The hoses are correct that I have now compared to the pic in 07. I have seen a new 28 gal tank on sites that include a pump. One of the features I like is that all the connections are on top of the tank versus side and bottom as in the original. This should eliminate fluid always in the bottom hose. Thus where the leak is. Not sure of any disadvantages with this system other than will it fit in the space under the seat? Thanks

Very doubtful that you could fit a 28 gal tank under the seat. Kloudie's picture shows the original size and it's a tight fit. About 13 Gal. The one advantage of having the pump out hose near the bottom is that is makes pumping out easier ! with the right hose properly installed there are no leaks. Good luck.

Holding Tank...

When I purchased my H34, it had a brand new, uninstalled Todd 15 gallon holding tank to be installed. This tank, though a bit small, fits perfectly under the forward dinette seat with some room to spare on the long sides and at the starboard end for hose connections. Overboard discharge was removed when this tank was installed.

All hoses were replaced at installtion with the top-of-the-line sanitary hoses. It was a bear to get the new big hoses over the hose barbs. Had to heat with a hair dryer and apply some dish soap inside the hose ends. No leaks!

Not sure what size tank is in there from original. I guess I need to run down to the boat and start to measure. i thought it was a 25 gallon tank but I could be wrong. I still like the idea of a pump and the ports on top of the tank. I will reply with measurements when I take them.

Thanks

Jim, the original owners manual lists the holding tank at 20 gallons.. From my guesstimates of measurements, I think it has about that capacity.

Well saw the boat today to take some measurements. There really is not much room under the seat. At the max I measure 26" L x 22"w x 15H. That would be the max!
I agree that it can’t be much more than 15-20 gallon tank on the original. I think I will pull the tank and pressure test the tank. If it is a crack in the tank does anyone know if you can glue the tank to seal it? Or is it not worth the trouble so just go buy another one. This tank seems to be made perfect for the space. Jim

Interesting but how do you add the connections to the tank? Are they just tapped and threaded to were I would indicate they should be?
Price is reasonable.

I think there is a tank manufacturer in Bayville New Jersey that can supply a tank for the replacement, check yellow pages for their name.
