I'm starting to get quotes to have my H33C moved from Dallas, TX to Tarpon Springs, FL. I'm already in FL. Does anyone know the height of the boat with the mast down? I have the shoal keel (4 ft)

Sail a Sailboat?!?

I have thought about it. But neither the boat nor I are ready for it. I'd still have to have the mast taken down, the boat trucked to the Texas Coast, the mast re-stepped. So I wouldn't be saving a lot money. I know, excuses, excuses.

Oh ya!

Ron: I did not pay attention to the fact that you where in Dallas! There are costs on both ends for loading and blocking the hull for transportation. Be sure to get some references on the transportation company. Be sure that everything that can be wrapped and secured is done so. These trips tend to be very hard on the boat (and the owner). I would contact Hunter Marine for the measurements.

Irony

I had moved to Dallas (from Santa Barbara) and found that while there were some lakes to sail on, there weren't any places to rent sailboats. So after about a year, I bought a 1982 Hunter 33 that needed a little work, thinking I would be there for at least 6-7 years. About a year after that, my situation changed and I could move anywhere I wanted. S.B. (and most of CA) was too expensive now so I moved down to the Gulf Coast of Fl and am renting a house on a canal about 1/2 mile from the gulf. So I've been here about 5 months now, going crazy because I wanted to make sure I might stay here before moving the boat down. Of course by waiting, the boat missed the hurricanes. But now I'm ready!
