I have a H33-C that has the original engine/transmission (2qm15) and original prop. (two blade, chipped). looking for some advice on sizing a new three blade, hopefully from someone with the same boat/engine
my transmission is 2.41/1
Has anyone swapped their prop for a three blade? what size worked for you?

I would highly suggest contacting a "good" prop shop and let them size one for you. If you screw up on the sizing it will cost you more money. Let them be responsible for the correct sizing.

Nothing wrong with getting some info from the members to get some estimates.

Beard I have the same set up that you do and have a three blade prop that works fine seems to have plenty of power. I think it is a 14\ 12 rh but I will go down to the boat and check for sure today or tomorrow and let you know. The boat is on the hill due to the hurricane. Robert

Steve: I completely agree and have contacted millers island prop in baltimore (the same co. that bought the mold for our struts) and plan on letting them work out the math themselves, I just wanted to have some input from an owner of the same hull/engine combo

Robert: thats great thanks, if you could snap a few pics from various angles for me that would be great too, I'm in the water and when they started asking about clearances i could only go off of memory and macroscopic pics from afar.....hoping not to have to jump in with a ruler thanks!

Finally got down to the boat and the wheel is a 14/10 rh and it has 2" clearance between the wheel and the bottom. Sorry it took so long but we were under water until today. Robert

I also have a C33 with a 2QM15. I changed my prop to a 14" MAX Prop three blade reversing/feathering model in 2004. I am satisfied with the result. These props have adjustable pitch and it took several tries to establish the best setting. The original 2QM15 brochure (bright red in color) suggested a 3 blade 14"diameter x10" pitch. This is an error (in my opinion). I originally set the three blade to this pitch and found that I could not reach full engine RPMs. I later changed the setting to 7.6" pitch and I have been able to reach full engine speed ever since. Hope this information helps.
