I have just taken delivery of a 2004 326. The contract included Ameriseam open mesh cockpit cushions. I understand that these cushions are designed to be "snap" fastened. Does this mean drilling into the fiberglass cockpit locker covers? This is not something I'm comfortable with. These cushions are light in weight and I'm concerned on leaving them unsecured. Snaps
Snaps are worth it. They are on very short screws and do not create a problem. Your dealer should install them for you. BUT HERE'S THE TRICK: put only the rear two snaps in, not the two at the front of the seat. The rear two snaps will hold the cushions in place, and you won't be bothered by pokes from snaps at the front if you sail sans cushions. Works very well on our 356. I know there's been some crabbing from others about snaps and/or these cushions, but they've been great for us, installed as described, and I'm very glad we got them. Others can and probably will speak for themselves.

There is a thread on this site about snaps etc about a year ago these things hurt your feet, catch dirt and everything elso and are a general pain use a piece of rubber mesh non skid( the stuff you buy to put under throw rugs) you can cut the stuff to size just smaller than cusion and never know they are there. the cushions will never move and you can clear the seats for cleaning. The stuff is cheap so after a few years you can chuck it ( ihave the same pieces on my 340 for 4 years just takes a minute to put on seat and lay cushions over. can set on off, sideways up down believe me the cushion stays put t.

Find the better quality rubbery non-skid mesh and.
stitch them to the bottom of the cusions. This is the second boat I've done this on and it works great. The only cushion I used snaps on is the helm seat which folds out the stern (H410). WHat I did was sew white straps onto the two front corners where the snaps are, lead them around the side edge and put the snaps underneath the seat. PS: GREAT WAY TO REMOVE THE SNAPS is to drill out the stud under the cap that holds the two parts together. That leaves the webbing intact in case you change your mind about the snaps.
