H320 Hatches Correct part #s ?

I have 6 identical Lewmar opening hatches on my 2000 Hunter 320. I want to replace the seals, and maybe the lenses, if they're still available. The owners manual lists the hatches as Coastline Size 10.

Can any H320 owners confirm the correct part #s for these hatches or actually replaced the seals?

Size 10's would be about 13 x 13, measuring the OD of the flange. The seal kits are still available, barely, and will probably take some time to procure. Doesn't look like Lewmar still makes the lens.

I don't have data for 320, but the 326 does indeed have (or is supposed to have) six Lewmar size 10 Coastline hatches.

Phil--thanks for your reply. I found an archived post on this site that quotes Lewmar as saying the hatches on a 2000 H340 were not Coastline, as indicated by Hunter, but rather the low-profile series. My hatches measure 13in X 13 in. I took pictures and will send them to Lewmar to get a confirmation of which model they really are.IMG_0010.jpg

Lewmar Hatches

I was the one that posted the archived discussion about replacing lenses in the Lewmar hatches on my 2000 H340. I'm not sure that Lewmar would be able to tell from just the photos, you have to send them the serial numbers from the hatches

I asked them: Is there any way to tell if I might have a Coastline vs. Low-profile hatch?

LEWMAR: If it is a Low Profile (LP) hatch then the acrylic can be replaced. Look at your hinges that connect the upper and lower frame. An LP hatch would have these little plastic covers that you would have to first pop off in order to start dismantling the hinge. A Coastline hatch would just have two long pins that go through the entire hinge and you would have to drive it out with a punch.

ME: My hatches have the small plastic clips/covers over the hinges, so I guess that I have the Series 60 Low Profile hatches. However, the seams on the upper frame for the lens are fore and aft, not on the sides of the frame as Lewmar shows in its instructions on changing the lenses.

LEWMAR: No they are still LP low profile, they just come apart slightly different. There should be a serial number on each hatch acrylic; stamped into the acrylic itself, near the handles; you might have to pull back the gasket a bit to see it. We have two different generations of the LP hatches, what are referred to as Mark I and Mark II but you cannot take a mark I acrylic and put it in a mark II frame and vice versa.

ME: The serial number on the acrylic for the main hatch is # 3996003 - 18B0, and the acrylic for my forward hatch is # 3996003-23A0. Also of note, my forward hatch does not have the small plastic cover/clips on the hinges but appears to have the friction type hinges.

Lewmar: Ok that is a LP Mark I size 60 hatch. The hinges would be part number 361263999. The hinge covers are 361027999 for a bag of 10. The acrylics are 360852990, these come with the gaskets but if you want the gaskets by themselves then they would be part number 360872999. These can be purchased through any of our distributors, a full listing of which can be found on our website under the Contact Us section.

Believe it or not, hatches are one of the more variable components on the boat. What you're supposed to have, or what another owner has, is not necessarily what you have. :) So contacting Lewmar to confirm is a very good idea.

Re: Lewmar Hatches

Hi John--I appreciate you posting your dialogue with Lewmar. Based on your discussion with them and additional info I found, I believe my 6 hatches are LP MKI--(they have the two plastic hinge covers and have a roll pin on the underside of the lid near hinge). I cannot see any serial numbers on the lenses. Do you recall who or what department/office at Lewmar you talked with? I'm ready to make my contact with them. Thank you.
