My 1985 Hunter 31 recently took on water while having the engine serviced at a local yard which shall remain nameless. The intruding water displaced engine oil and distributed it throughout the cabin. The yard is making good the damage, cleaning (light) sanding & refinishing of the interior teak etccccccccc.
Some of the interior teak is solid, and some (bulkheads & several vertical surfaces) is veneer.
My question is this:
The veneer surfaces (the boat was 1.5 years old when I purchased it) came treated (I presume factory original) with either a honey colored or clear sealer.
I know this because:
a. Normal teak oil would bead up and be absorbed only slowly when applied.
b. The existing color matched perfectly the interior pictures of the Hunter color brochure for that model year.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME/BRAND OF THE ACTUAL PRODUCT THAT HUNTER WOULD HAVE USED WHEN BUILDING THE BOAT ??
