H30 steering noisy

The steering pedestal emits groans as I turn the wheel. How do I lubricate/correct this problem? Coleman Brydon

Rudder support?

Coleman: Have you checked the rudder post. There is suppose to be a support at the top/bottom of the rudder post to keep it lined up. These sometimes fall apart and need to be replaced. You may want to think about making them out of poly board or something that will not rot away if that is the problem.

Creaky steering ...

Our 1978 Hunter 30 creaks like a 200-year old boat when we steer. It's also very stiff. I'm looking at the emergency tiller fitting (seems old and "rusty") and I plan on researching all the pullies and cables this winter. I would love a wheel the glides ... instead of one that sounds like an old rocking chair.
