Shaft Log Hose
Take The existing hose off and bring it to an auto parts place such as NAPA and ask for the double reinforced hose that fits both the stuffing box and shaft log. Hopefully they are the same diameter within a 1/16" because the reinforced hose has little or no 'give' to it. coat the inside surface with liquid soap to help slide it over the shaft log. Obviously, you need to un bolt the flange and remove it from the shaft in order to remove and replace the hose, so you should be doing an engine re-alignment as well. Carefully polish the visible portion of the shaft with 320 to 400 grit wet or dry paper and lengthen or shorten the new hose so you have no overly worn areas of the shaft where the new flax seal is locate. If you use Teflon impregnated flax in the bronze stuffing box you wil have a system that is far superior to the original equipment.
