I hired a rigger to do some repairs at the top of the mast. Before he went up he inspected the rigging. What he found was the stem fitting/anchor roller was crazed with mico cracks. When he removed it part broke off. I was really lucky except that I need to have a new one fabricated. I wish I had taken some pictures. I do not race or sail the boat hard and the cracks were very hard to see unless you knew what to looks for. You might want to dye test your fitting.

So why would this be specific to H29.5 and not older boats in general. I understand your plight but feel that this should be a warning to all sailboat owners to inspect their decks and rigging anchor points.

A final report. The fabricator salvaged the sides of the fitting and welded it to a new sole plate drilled for the mounting screws. Did a great job but $$$. Installing a new windex and anchor light plus the repaired part. $2200. Whew
