I recently de-winterizing my boat, to include draining the marine anti-freeze out of the water system, flushing with fresh water until the water was no longer pink, and then re-filled the water tank. When trying to wash the dinner dishes later that same day, I noticed that the water was not getting hot out when the hot water faucet was on. We were plugged into shore power and the water heater was switched on. I'm heading out to the boat this weekend and would like some ideas on what I need to look for when I trouble shoot the system. Thanks in advance.

Try pressing the reset button!

Rich: There is a reset button on the heater. It is usually where the electrical connection comes into the unit. It is also usually covered with insulation and or cardboard. Try pressing the button with the unit turned on and see if that does not help. It may have overheated earlier and you need to reset it.

Red reset button

Steve is correct. That button (red) is located on the right sideof the unit covered by insulation and I beliec a metal plate with 2 screws. Push that in and you'll have hot water.

Alternative

I don't think the electric heater on my 29.5 is worth a damn, but since the coils somehow run through the motor, I have plenty of hot water after motoring to my mooring or dock. Try it then.

o', Bill

Bill O: I do not know if you care, but you should be able to change the heating element in your heater and it would work fine (assuming you do not have an electrical problem).
