Don't know if it is standard but on my boat, the topping lift, outhaul, and reefing lines exit the front of the boom. I'm considering running control lines for the outhaul and topping lift to the cockpit. Any recommendations and/or advice on this approach?

Topping Lift....

Are you sure your topping lift exits the front of the boom??? It should exit a slot in the mast on the port or starboard side with a near by cleat to tie off to. I am in the process of running the same line aft to the cockpit on my '92 H30. I added a winch, triple clutch and turning blocks so it can get expensive, but it worth it not having to run forward to to ease or tighten lines. Having the reef line aft is really a good thing to have in heavy weather.

H28.5 Topping Lift

I am sure it currently exits from the front of the boom, but don't know if this was standard on the 88 model or if a different boom was installed/reconfigured. I do have a port slot/exit on the mast that is currently not used. I bought this boat a few weeks ago so theres a lot I don't know about it...

Outhaul etc are the same way on my 87H285

The lines exit from the bottom of the boom and are secured by cam cleats. I think there've been some other posts here on HOW about owners running these lines aft. I single-hand my boat quite often, and the location of the cleats for these lines has never annoyed me enough to think about moving them.

Take them all to the cockpit

Great Ider, My topping lift, outhaul and the first reefing line run to the cockpit. Makes life very easy and makes single handling a charm. Good Luck
