Hunter H27 '91 Kentucky Lake
I bought a '91 Hunter 27 late last summer and have been working through my todo list. a couple of questions: any help would be appreciated...
i need to order some sail slugs, anyone know what size slot in mast? Boat is 100 miles away.
Boom topping lift line looks like it's in bad shape, looks like it is fastened at mast top and runs through aft end of boom and has a cam cleat type device as it comes out near the mast. how is it connected at top of mast? How difficult is it to replace? I know, climb the mast, but what will i find when i get there?
i would like to add a spare halyard, is there an extra pulley at top of mast? was that standard equipment or is that something i need to add?
i thought i would add lazy jacks after dealing with main all over the deck. Pros/cons on lazy jacks?
Thanks for your help.... Alan

While you are waiting for a fellow H27 owner you could call Hunter Marine. Pretty sure that your mast is a Z-Spar: http://www.rigrite.com/Spars/Zspar/Z_Mast_specs.html . The mastheads varied but you could(should?) have four sheaves up there, two forward and two aft. Just like a friend's H28.5 I think.

The medium size masts used the HA89 slugs which I think are 15mm. But you should get this from Hunter or an owner.

I raised the mast on an '89 Hunter 27 this past weekend and removed the topping lift to clean it. Looked like the original line with a spliced loop and was attached with a simple pin and cotter pin. Yes - there is an extra pulley at the top.
