Throttle cable broke and I don't see part number in the book. A few posts in the forums, but nothing recent. Was wondering if anyone had recommendation for length and part number for the cables? I'm going through the Edson column to a Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke. Was planning on replacing both cables. Any other maintenance that should be attended to while I'm in there? Also, leave the pedestal standing, or does it need to come down?

The throttle comes with the outboard motor. You can find all part references on-line for the Tohatsu outboard.

You’re in luck, just finished the exact same job on H260 05. You can take the cables out first and measure them to be sure. Ours were replaced with Universal TFXTREME 3300 Premium cables- CCX633 Series. They were from Defender Marine 10’ long model CCX63310 $37.99, many places have them. The motor ends are put on the new cable as well as the pedestal yokes.
Replacing them is a real experience. Edson engineering as far as replacement is not too elegant. You get the directions at the Edson web site” How to change engine control cables on your Edson Pedestal” When I first read them I thought, you must be kidding, I have to go through all that, just to get the cables out. There must be a simple way. Not. Follow the directions exactly and it actually works. You must go as far as loosening the chain and moving it forward. I additionally marked the chain location on the sprocket to put it back in the same place. I also had a messenger line on both yokes to help guide them to port. Good luck.

Let me chime in on this as I am the culprit who did that modification first as a dealer even on the 26.
you want to use the 3300 series cables 11 feet long. With a 10 foot, that will not give you enough room with the cable to work with.
When you try to run the cable thru the pedestal, remove the end fittings on the both ends of the new cable and run it thru a long small tube to guide it to and thru the bottom of the hole in the rear of the pedestal. Just one of my little tricks.
