H260 Swing Keel problem

Ever since I bought my H260 I have found it very hard to pull up the swing keel. It takes all the power of the winch to get it to come up and it feels like something is going to snap. The centerboard on my brothers H26 comes up just pulling on the rope without the use of the winch. The pulley routing of the rope is the same on both boats. Anybody have any suggestions short of dropping the keel and seeing if the pin and roller in the holding bracket are defective? Any info would be help full.

Flaco,
If you're winching it up you're gonna break something. The uphaul line has probably broken the outer braided sleeve and is sliding on the inner core and bunching up at the rollers. You'll have to drop the board to fix it.

Thanks Dennis,
I will let you know what I find out once I drop the keel.

I agree with Dennis. Better to get at it now than wait for the most in opportune time for something to fail. On my H26 it is a one handed job to raise the board. No winch involved.

Remember only use 7/16 line suggesting 30 feet long. Look in the archives as rgranger posted photos with me doing this

I do not have the availability of a lift. I need to find a way to lift the boat 6" off the trailer so I can lower the keel and access the roller and pivot pin.
Anybody have any ideas?
While I was under there I noticed that my keel was very heavy and sounded metallic. I had a hard time pushing my keel up the last two inches by hand from the bottom. My brother recently broke his keel on his H26 and it seemed a lot lighter carrying it than the one hanging under my boat. I also noticed that the top roller under the mast step is not rolling smoothly since it is all gummed up with silicone and feels very sloppy on its pin/bushing.
How can I access the top roller?

The whole bracket has to come out. First, I would not suggest lifting thee boat off the trailer unless you have experience for safety reasons. However some have and I will defer to them. Suggest strongly that you put this thread under the small boats of the Hunterowners as more responses will come from there. I will moderate and step in. However, there is a recent thread from @rgranger with photos of what was done for both the 26 and 260 which is the same mechanism. I am the ugly one in the photo with a bald head while the other two are more handsome than this snarly old fart called me. However, I had to hear a frog croaking
One question, how far from you is a marina with a lift.

The nearest marina with a lift is 200 miles.
How would I go about posting this under the small boats of the Hunter owners? (start a new thread or link this one?)
How much does the keel weight?
Thanks for connecting me to the pictures. I found a shop nearby with a 3 ton chain hoist.
I am still wondering how I can get the top roller out. Do I have to take off the step plate? (looks like 2 of the 4 screw heads are stripped on it). Some one gummed the roller up with silicone to stop leaks I guess.

Go to the smaller boats and post there. You will have to lift it more than 6 inches but look at a recent thread there. @rgranger please provide that thread with the photos. The biggest issue the whole centerboard housing has to come out. Also, I am not a fan of lifting a boat up off the trailer. nearly took an arm off but that will be a choice. There are those who have done that. However that is a choice for you to make.

On my 23.5, in order to inspect or remove the top roller, you must remove the mast base. I did that this past spring because mine seemed very loose. Turns out that's how it's designed. All was OK. I assume it's the same for the 260.

Hey @Flaco, Rgranger and I pulled our centerboards out while Dave worked from inside the cabin. The centerboard on my H260 seemed substantially heavier than Rob's on his H26. From your description maybe it's supposed to be heavier.
