Dave I have a 2001. I will not be able to get to the boat until Tuesday. I will measure for you then if it's not too late.

It is a 3/16 inch stainless steel wire with a coated vinyl covering. If you are planning ot make them yourself, you will need the appropiate swaging tool. If not, I suggest taking the old one off to send off to make one from it specifying if it is the right length or needs to be shortened or lengthened.

stay with the coated 3/16 wire for any lifeline. Thank you dave groshong for advising you all do that as well.

Another thought is to go up to the next size SS cable without the plastic wrap. Most bigger boats that are used alot are doing that. It is stronger and less prone to corrosion and easier to inspect.
I agree with Caverun about the Dyneema line instead of SS. I have been using it on my 23 for 3 years now and like it far better. Just a different opinion.

My '98 h26 needed the lifelines replaced last year. I used amsteel line. 5/16 as I recall. 8, 000 pound test. Should be able to lift the entire boat (no plans for that). I would do it again. No fittings to mess with. Used good quality snap fittings on both ends for gates. Just make sure the protective grommets are in place in the stanchions.
