Happyness is complete. New H260 is now in the driveway. Picked up the critter on April 16 and have named it "Java". This is in honor of Joan's coffee habit and a programming language I fool around in. BTW, Dave - Joan lost the bet. I was able to get it in the driveway on the first try. She just stood there with her mouth open. Thanks to American Marine - Rick, Bob and Crazy Dave for making me HAPPY. Look out water here I come.

A pool maybe?.......

Ok we pretty much know exactly when Bob got his 260. Any one want to bet on how long before we get his 1st mod/change/add post? Greg 23 Faster-

Rig & Launch

Tell us how long it takes you to rig (by the manual) and launch the '260 the very first time. We'll all have a good laugh and go on from there. It DOES get better. Dealer's will do a service if they just watch and advise as a new customer learns the ropes (literally) on the first launch. My mistake was to watch the dealer the first time and, when he was gone, things seemed to be much larger, longer, and deeper. Practice makes purrrrfect. We all are wishing you sunshine and gentle breezes. Ken S/V Wouff Hong

Minutes to hours

I eagerly read all the posts about people launching their 26 or 260 in 20-45 minutes. A week before the launch date I tried raising the mast of my '97 26, just to get familiar with the process. All went well and fairly quickly, but I didn't time it. When the real launch day came, minutes turned into hours. Lots of little things needed to be tended to. A terribly tricky launch ramp. A centerboard that wasn't (couldn't be fully retracted). An improperly fitted CDI roller furler luff (can't believe the original owner didn't fix that). Tuning. Etc. Don't plan on things going fast. Take your time and don't break anything. I was over eager to get in the water. Thankfully I was assisted by an experienced sailor who knew it was best to slow down and do it right. If it take half an hour or half a day (as in my case) who cares. It's still time on the boat and that beats yardwork an day! Good luck. s/v Hydro-Therapy
