I finished the installation of my Raytheon ST1000 Autohelm & Garmin 76 GPS. Thought I would be nice to share some pictures with my friends on the HOW. I can only leave one picture with this article so I'll leave six in the photo forum with commentary. Enjoy!

Thanks Bob

Excellent photo Bob but can I ask why it was mounted on the port side? Regards

Mark - Your Answer

I mounted the unit on the port side because I needed access to the starbord side for my outboard motor (and that was decided, at the factory, by Hunter Marine). I realized I was blocking my ladder, and entry on to the boat from the water, but I figured it didn't matter because the autohelm would only be used when the boat was under way - hence no one would be using the ladder. Regards, Bob.

I am intrigued by your cutting of the tiller.

I don't have to worry about my son getting wacked in the head anymore :) How is it holding up. Looks like something to consider when a bunch of guests are aboard. My only reservation is on the 26 when the rudder creeps up a few degrees, the helm gets very hard. Also because of it's design it flexes alot especially in a broad reach or run putting alot of pressure on the helm. I think I solved the rudder creeping up by using a sheer pin though. alan
