On the Hunter 260 and similar boats the mast is raised using the mainsheet. Has anyone tried doubling its power by using a single block on the jib sheet and two attachment points on the bow? The same way you simply double the power of a vang.

mast raising

i use the main sheet with blocks over the boom to raise mine from the cocpit using a winch i can do it alone works very well on my 27'.
use the main halyard to the boom, cross tie the boom so it doesnt fall over and connect the front stayto the mast and winch it up.
mine wont hinge from the rear , cabin and hatch are too tall .i also built a mast crutch attached to the tongue extension for support.

There are several ways to make the current system work easier, but I'd like to add a word of caution. I can get my H260 mast up no problem just by pulling on the mainsheet and if there is a problem you get immediate feedback. I've used the port winch to make it even easier, but because there is little feedback when something is not working right I ended up bending the gin pole.
