I recently bought an 1994 H26. It has a lockable compartment in the forward section of the V-berth. The compartment was locked when I bought it and the former owner doesn't have the key. Can anyone discribe the compartment (size, etc.) and offer suggestions about removing the lock or getting another key? Thanks, BrianW

Under the cushions?

If so, this is a storage compartment for the cockpit table. It's about 4 inches deep or so, if you have the table it originally laid in the compartment to (1) store the table and (2) complete the v-berth plane. My father has the same boat. I think a prior owner somehow converted this space with a locking door. No way to tell what they did underneath except look at it. Get a locksmith or drill the lock out.

Not THAT Compartment

Thanks for your response, but I was referring to the compartment that uses the bow bulkhead, not the bottom of the V-berth. Thanks, BrianW

What Compartment?

I have a '94 26 and there is no comparment in the v-berth bulkhead. It must have been something added by the owner. The anchor well is behind that bulkhead.
