Are the stern rail seats on your H26 the greatest thing since sliced bread? I am thinking about installing some but would like a few opinions as to the pros and cons. Looks like a great place to sail and a great place to view the world while at anchor. Thanks, Mark Gruber H26 NautiBreeze

Hunter will build them
I had Hunter build mine form their original plans. They are very easy to deal with, and the price is competetive!

The only possible issue is something about whether or not the boat has some glassed in alum. backup plates rather the foam in the areas of attachment. My hull is a 1994 hull 0014, so I will call Hunter and/or look underneath for signs of the plates. I wonder if I could have enough space to glass in some marine ply and thru-bolt? Anyone tried this assumming no backup plates? This is hull 0014 so odds are IMHO there are no backup plates. Thanks for all the responses. The seats look like the "best seat in the house" and would definitely create a bit more room in the cockpit with visitors. Thanks, Mark Gruber

YOU NEED backing plates. when you get the seats from hunter,they should come with instalation plans and the harware needed for it.you have to glass four aluminium plates aft(two for each seat),where you can reach removing the aft panel, and there are special through bolts for the fore leg. To these seats,I ve aded a large bimini atached to the outer fore leg,and it seats back,when folded,on top of the drink holders,that now come standar with the seats.This lets you sail with the bimini on or off and still use the wonderfull seats. Along with self tailing winches, this boat is a nice little yacht. Dont forget to route a speaker cable through the tubing to install your bose sound system,under the seat. Enjoy and fair winds.

With tiller steering, it's nice to have a place where passengers can sit and be out of the way from the action when the crew (the folks doing the actual sailing) needs to trim or come about.

Great Seats
They are awesome. My wife and kids love these seats. It makes it easy to carry up to 6 passengers in the cockpit plus captain. I added stern rail back cushions which make it comfortable to lean back. I think I purchased from this website.
