That's what I need but I can't find an outfit ready to take on the task. Has anyone here on the forum had one sewn up for their boat?

Noseeum: A term for sand flies or any other critter that can get through mosquito netting.

Here near any beach even tied up a hundred or more feet off shore and they are a real pest!

I'd like a enclosure that has a support that fits over the hatchway using the hatch track to brace the support. Then a covering over the bimini supports that drapes down the port and starboard and stern sides of the cockpit and attaches to the hatchway pop-top covering. I'd like some zippers in locations where I can duck out and get up on deck at night should I need to.

The cockpit part of the enclosure would only be up at anchorage.

I've been rejected by Ameriseam and one other I can't recall their name. Finding a outfit set up to do this is a chore.

One outfit "HALLETT CANVAS & SAILS, INC." but it's a struggle getting them the necessary dimensions.

I'm told best to find someone local to make up what I need, well so far I haven't been able to find such a place in Panama setup to do this.

Let me know if you've got a place in mind.

Heading to the states tomorrow

That fine mesh is a bear to sew, most canvas shops won't touch it. If I were you I'd go to the trouble to get the dimensions and use the shop that's willing to make one. :)

If you have a standard sewing machine and the dimentions it is not at all hard to make your own. Sailrite.com has all the materials (not sure on the no-see-um netting though) I am in the process of a complete bimini & cockpit curtians rebuild and have been able to turn one out in about two evenings.
On a related note, the curtians (plastic windows) are not only handy when at anchor. You would be supprized at how cool it can get and you can still be comfortable with a set of curtains. also makes a rainny day a lot dryer/warmer.

Also, the netting is very easy to sew if you use a piece of fabric on both sides to sandwitch it between

Lay the screen and both "C shaped" covers so that the foutside of each cover is facing the bug screen and sew #1 (blind stitch). the fold over the covers and sew #2.
works great, less filling

A heavier and perhaps more easily sewn 20x20 No-see-um screen is also available from most local screen room contractors for a typical home screen enclosure. It is a very tiny opening and might now be non-compliant with current wind load regs in Fl where we are. When this stuff gets wet on a windy day it certainly won't easily pass water and has considerable windage but it keeps the bugs out and may hold it's shape better than a super light weight mesh.

I have a roll in my shop that I intended to use for just such a large project on our 260 but it looks like I won't ever get to it. I also used it on my screen cage at home(and it saves the day) so it'll get used some day. I would think you could find this screen in Panama with all the bugs you're said to have down there too.

The tropics are a double edged sword and I certainly feel your tropical pest pain. Mike

Keep in Mind

That tight a mesh significantly cuts down on air flow so it you enclosure may turn into a sweatbox.

A regular screen with a repellant sprayed on it maybe easier to live with.

Following the thread.. thanks guys

Yes need air circulation but the bugs are a bigger problem. Bug spray won't work I'm afraid.

I'm still hoping that there's a professional outfit out there ready to tackle this.

Most canvas makers have developed standard patterns according to their own designs which they will adapt to fit different boats. A request that incorporates to many special requests as how to frame and where to attach may likely turn them off. If there is a place where you may find a skilled tradesman willing to work with your design at a reasonable price it has to be Panama. Any experienced upholsterer should have the basic skills and the tools to get the job done.
