H26 Main sheet block...

I have a 97 H26 with as Edson wheel pedestal. I find uncleating the mainsheet to be a real problem with the schafer block that comes with the boat. Has annyone made any modifications that work without adding a traveler?Thanks,Toms/v Chrisanna II

I saw a picture of a world cruiser up by the Arctic that had his cruising boat rigged with main sheet quick release clutch at the boom instead of down at the deck-thought it looked real odd but with the H26 it might work even better as you can't swing the boom out far enough to cause problems with releasing it because then the main sheet is chafing on the spreaders. Have a try, it may work even on gusty Lk Pepin!
