H26 kick up rudder

I just bought a 1994 Hunter 26. The 18 inch draft is just what I needed for our shallow canal. Raising and lowering the kick up rudder doesn't seem to work as described in the owners manual using the continuos line. I have to climb down the bording ladder and push it up or down. Is there a better solution?

Line not routed properly

I have the same feature on my 23.5 and when I first got it did not work also. I check the lines and they were routed incorrectly. I changed the routing and it works great now. However, with the line, you will never get the rudder into the full up position.
