H26 Jib Sheet Cleating Options

I sail a 1995 H26 (new to me this year) and am looking for options that would allow me to more easily single hand. I find the stock cleating arrangement for the jib sheets very awkward (winch & horn cleat) and would like to come up with a better arrangement that would allow for easy adjustment and release.

Are there other arrangements out there? What are others doing?

It sounds like the H26 has a better arrangement than the H260. We have a clam cleat forward of the winch, with the clams engaging in a forward motion. Awkward.

I have attached very long jib sheets that allow me to handle them from just forwared of the helm station. This allows me to control the sheets druning a tack. I still need to step up to the cabin to cleat the leeward sheet after the tack.

A number of 23.5/240/26/260 owners have installed Spinlock Powercleats. I added a pair this season, and really like them. You cannot use the winches with them, but I never used the winches for the jib anyway. More details here:

how about adding tailers to the winches? If you don't use the winches much for the jib just wrap it once around the drum and pull from there, no need to use the crank handle for light loads. Then "cleating" the sheet is just a matter of running it through the tailer.
