I have searched everywhere I know to search and looked at as many pictures as I can find about the '94 h26 front hatch design. My question is, does the hatch/windoe have a frame or is it just the tinted plexi window that is the hatch and window. I bought a 26 and trailer for a song and a dance (don't dance worth a crap) and have a lot of work to do to get her back in shape. This is one of the first things I have to do.

Thanks in advance for any help

Phil, thanks for the info. I would have ordered this a couple weeks ago, but I called first and the person I talked to said it was the window only and no frame was included. That led me to believe that there was a frame. I do not currently have a hatch/window to look at, hence, all the confusion and research. Now that I know it is just the plexi and no frame, I can put in my order. Problem number one solved. Many thanks to you and the rest on here...

Derf123;

There is an adjuster arm that holds that up in place and was secured to the framed in portion of the deck for better lack of terms. Usually this was marine putty with screws in it. If it is worn out, clean out with a dremel going to the deck and inner liner fiberglass and for best application, deeply reglass the area. You will have to do this in several applications and suggest that you cut up the glass in fine pieces and use a brush dipped in acetone from time to time to make sure the bubbles are worked out and the glass is pushed together in the hole. Then finish off with a two part expoxy filler and coat with gel or white paint of sort.

Dave,
Thanks for the advice. Wish someone had a picture of the arm and area you are referring to - a picture is worth, well you know... but I will probably figure it out. One point of contention; will gel coat stick to two part epoxy?

Yes as it has for me in the past but remember that gel coat takes a higher temp hardner which you have to be careful when purchasing not to get the lower temp. I have seen some take Krylon spray paints to cover up but the surface needs to be cleaned and sanded very finely.

Hatch pictures

These are the only hatch pictures I have. The one shows the contact cement applied Velcro and screen. This also shows the old solar vent which I just replaced. Both the screen and vent are must-haves.

The boat's in the driveway

If you need more pictures at different angles, just tell me what you want and I'll walk outside with the camera.

Well, I could use one taken from the port side so I can see the opening mechanism more clearly...but don't want to trouble you.. but appreciate it very much.

Here you are

I had to put some Loctite on that lower screw anyway. It keeps loosening. Hopefully even though it's a sheet metal thread it will hold it.

Someday we'll meet and you'll give me a buck. I always charge my kids a buck when I do something for them, but they never pay. Go figure.

John23883 - thanks again for the pictures, they helped a lot. Finally after 2 months, got the hatch delivered. My question now is, what size hatch opener do I need. Have any idea where yours came from or does anyone else have a source for these? I can't seem to find any that looks anything like what is in the pictures or would operate (hinged) in the same manner. Do you know what the overall minimum and maximum extension measurements are of the opener? Anyone else had to replace one? Thanks in advance to all...

Derf, what is the thickness of the plexi? Also, can you confirm that it is plexi, I have to replace mine and I'm hearing that the material may be Lexan? Can you send me the name of the company that built it for you and I could call them.

Thanks,

Bought it from this site: http://shop.hunterowners.com/hp/part.php?m=26&c=1&p=52292 They state 20 days, but it was more like 60 because Hunter has a lot of orders for boats and they make the window when they have nothing else to do. Mine came with the holes drilled for the hinges and the side catches. The only thing I am missing is the arm mechanism to hold it open.

Sorry, I haven't been tracking this thread. We carry those here in various sizes. If someone with a 26 can let me know the length of the metal rod in the assembly I should be able to identify it.
