H26/260 Furler Had to replace my forestay last fall and I'm just now getting around to putting the whole furler/forestay back together. I took pictures before I took it apart and I have the CDI manual so I think I know which parts go where; but I'm not sure of the best way to remount the headsail. It is probably too simple, but with a traileable you don't have a halyard so what the best way to go about putting the headsail on? Couple of options I've considered: 1. Lay it out on the ground and roll the headsail up on the forestay? 2. Attach the head of the headsail to the top of the forestay then raise the mast and then roll it up? I'm looking for a step-by-step process. Thanks

We put our headsail up after the rigging is up

George, we remove our sail every year from the CDI furler for storage. We attach a length of essentially 1/8" messenger line to the "halyard" line that is attached to the front of the furler cup. We then pull the headsail down while the messenger line pulls to the top ot the furler. The messenger line does not follow the halyard up the foil groove, but instead is loose along that side of the foil. In the spring, the procedure is just the opposite. In your case, I'd attach the messenger line to the CDI halyard, and pull the halyard sail attachment point down to the cup. Tie everything down at the cup so it won't get away while raising the mast. Then it's just a matter of attaching the CDI halyard to the headsail, and feeding it up the foil luff groove while the messenger line is pulled. I do that from the deck of the boat once in the water. It's then just a matter of furling like normal to roll the sail on the headstay. Hope this helps.
