H240 vs H23.5

Is that 20 inch long enough. My last boat had the tohatsu 25 in 6hp,great motor.

The 20" is the minimum for these boats. I only do inland sailing, so for me the 20" is just fine. If I were on some potentially rougher waters I might want the 25".

My 23.5 came with the Johnson Sailmaster 8hp 25" length, which has always been plenty of power for me in the upper bay. And the motor is very easy to reach, shift and control on the 23.5 without added accessories.

We use to sail on the sassafras river,Bohemia river and North East river.
Where do you sail.

Hi Sailmaster39, I have sailed on the Bohemia, Elk and North East rivers, as well as the open bay. But now we stick close to home around the Susquehanna Flats near Havre de Grace.

We spent our honeymoon on the Susquehanna Flats many years ago.
I bought a hunter 34 at Tidewater marina many years ago. Where do you keep your boat.

mercury 8 extension kit

20"s is generally enough and would get you through most conditions. I found an extension kit and increased mine to a 25" shaft.

Where do you buy an extension kit for the Mercury 8hp 20 in. I never heard of that. So you extended your shaft from 20 to 25 inch.

Mercury 8 hp was made by Tohatsu along with the NISSAN 8 hp. owners manuals and parts pretty much the same. FYI
