A fuzzy fabric was glued to the interior walls in the berth areas fore and aft. It was stained and I removed it. Now I have exposed rough fiberglass. Do I need to gel coat before painting? Can I just paint it? Primer first? What paint is advised? Better solution? Thanks!

A painted surface will be cleaner (less odor and mold) but it will peel eventually and that will be a PITA to correct. The rough surface may scratch or worse give you fiber glass splinter, and it will not look good. You could use carpet tile (peel and stick) and that will last a few seasons (maybe five or six) and then it is easy to pull off and replace just the stained ones instead of redoing all of it. Keep a few extra tiles in the shed or basement and when one gets nasty, just pull that one off and replace. The small tiles are also easy to form fit to the curve of the cabin walls. You will need a sharp box cutter. Press the tile (before you peel of the backing) against the cabin wall and take up the slack by pinching and cut out excess... then, peel off the back and stick.

A wire brush wheel or eraser wheel on a cordless power drill can be used to get the fuzzy residue off of the walls before you start the resurface job.
