H240 centerboard cheek block

The centerboard uphaul cheek block on my 240 has bent and the sheave no longer turns freely. No doubt from the force exerted on this part raising the board.
Any reason not to use a ball bearing cheek block to replace? The Schaefer 300-09 is the same size/load rating as the original 30-27 part. Hoping the hole pattern is the same... Thought it might help reduce a little friction-
Anybody tried this?

Should not be a problem at all. When I replace parts like that I often upgrade if possible. The Schaefer 3 series 300-09 with delrin ball bearings is an upgrade. And for a cost difference of only around $10, it's what I would do.

300-09 with the ball bearings would be the route to go. Remember you are taking machine screws out of the backing plate encapsulated in the fiberglass deck. I do think a call would be wise to see if any issues with the lifting mechanism. Ask Kermit for my cell phone number. Kermit ok to give out phone. Issues with this damn computer.

Thanks for the feedback- I'll get the ball-bearing replacement. The uphaul looks OK- it has always been very hard to raise the centerboard. It is a '98 model, with the original line. How long do they usually last? My problem is no lift anywhere near me to get it off the trailer and pull the board.

Yes, Strictly Sail is an option- 2 hour trip each way, and they quoted $500 for the job- but no local options here in Lexington.

I thought there was a lift at Cave Run Lake but it has been many years when I was there last. Strictly Sail would know how to do that but for the money, you may want to consider them.
