My bilge pump is mounted too far aft to empty the bilge. It leaves about ten gallons of water in the boat. Is there any issue with moving it farther forward? The boat is a 1998. IMG_20210731_112922725.jpg

On a 240... I don't think you will have issues with the run or rise being to long for that pump. If the 240 is like the H26, then the bilge through hull is above the water line. All the water that is in the line will drain back into the bilge once the float switch turns off. So the dissadvantage of a long run is you may get a pint or two of water remaining in your bilge and cycling your pump on and off. You may want to put a one-way check valve in-line OR try to raise the line above the level of the through hull as soon as possible (to minimize how much water back flows).

I am planning on moving it forward but it seemed odd that is was originally placed so high. Sometimes there are unintended consequences but I couldn’t think of any.

That will place the pump much higher vs where it is now. I was involved with the design. Your boat , your choice

Where the bilge pump is now leaves over seven gallons of water in the bilge. Moving the pump and float forward places it under the water. I will send pictures when it warms up a little.

The engineers took everything in perspective to include my thoughts placing the pump where they did. Was the pump replaced. How about a photo of the current pump?
