H235 halyard sheaves

My 235 has two sheaves mounted on the deck, next to the mast, that turn the main and jib halyards 90 degrees. There was a plastic spacer between the two sheaves, which has now deteriorated and is gone. Now the halyards jump their sheaves and jam in the space that formally had the spacer. Does anyone know how this sheave area comes apart? I'm planning on making a new spacer, then I should be ok.

Usually they would have a couple of bolts or screws that not only hold the turning block in place but would allow the top to come off. It is usually bolted into a tapped and threaded aluminum block encapsulated in the fiberglass. Sometimes 5200 was used as a sealant vs. silicon. Take a photo and post so we can help to determine the manufacturer which to go back and get that new part.

Check the archives because I seem to remember one Lister having the issue and found a solution. I understand the the "look" conception, but not much forward thinking on this design. Sorry Dave if it was yours. :D

That pin is held in place by 5200 which I suggest removing and inserting a new divider. Some have come up with delrin plastic as I call it or some used aluminum washer or large ss washer for which you will have to drill the hole to accommodate for the pin. See if the forum store can help you. I forgot this was a 23.5.

I removed both sheaves and the shaft around which they rotated. I then cut out two plastic disks which I epoxied over the holes, which were a constant source of leaks. I then attached two blocks to the holes provided in the mast base plate and routed the halyards from those blocks to the deck mounted turning blocks. If you look at any big boat in your marina, you'll see that's the way all the boat builders do it. Works a treat and eliminates a leak source

Best Christmas wishes
