A few weeks back I posted a question about where to mount a LifeSling on a H23. Thanks for all the replys. The suggestion about mounting it against the transom under neath the tiller does seem like the best suggestion. Now for the next question. Currently, there is nothing there on the transom to attach the LifeSling. I was thinking of installing a couple of padeyes to the inside of the transom underneath the tiller. Does this seem appropriate? How would y'all recommend attaching the padeyes?

Through bolt!

Whatever you decide to use, make sure that it is through bolted and used a large backing plate (stainless or aluminum) There could be a high load on the lifesling if its deployed and the last thing you need is to have it rip a hole in your transom. If you go inside the storage area you can see that there is a space between the cockpit wall and the transom. The higher you go, the less space. You coud install some cleats, or u-bolts or whatever, just make sure you can get to it from the inside to install the backing plate. You may also want to consider installing it on the outside, to lessen clutter in the cockpit..... Good Luck! Chris K. S/V Doghouse

Transon

I would mount of outside of transom. I replaced my Motor Mount, was very easy. Go into your cockpit locker, drill through the transon, use backer plate and plenty of sealant. I would put the padeye on outside of transom, would be less in the way.

Lifesling Mount

Thanks for all your suggestions. I believe I found a solution to where I don't need to drill any more holes into the boat. The more I thought about it, I did like the idea of mounting it on the outside of the transom to reduc the clutter inside the cockpit. My concern there was that I was already running out of space on the back of the transom, what with the OB, th etiller the swim ladder.... I friend suggested mounting it to the swim ladder and it looks like it will fit very nicely there. The Lifesling II mounts with velcro straps and fits perfectly between the transom and the ladder when the ladder is in the upright position. I can attach the bitter end of the Lifesling line with a snaphook or carabiner to the mooring post/bar on the starboard side. Up here, most of my friends with boats only use the swim ladder to enter/exit the boats when on the mooring. Placing the sling there as well also dampnes the vibration of the ladder so yet another problem solved. Thanks again
