i just used murictic acid, (diluted 10:1) to clean the bottom of my boat but it looks like it melted the carpet on the bunks....or some of it. i would like to put a sawhorse, or something much stouter, under the transom and drop the bunks one at a time and check to be sure the carpet didn't fuse to the hull and replace the carpet. looks to me like with the boat in a 3 point support, (bow, one bunk, transom, and of course keel), that this wouldn't be much of a problem. has anyone done this? i'd hate to go attempt to put the boat in the water and find out it was now part of the trailer! besides, if the acid did that to the carpet i want to be sure....soon....that it didn't damage the fiberglass under the bunks.
