So yesterday I was heading for the slip, fighting the wind and the current, (in about 3kt of wind) made it past both, turned around and made my final approach. Let the sheets go for the last appraoch, handed the tiller to the admiral, and got poised to secure the boat to the dock. Well, she didnt slow down anywhere near what I exepected, so that dock line hit the cleat, i held on tight, and we stopped f-16 style...about 2" from the dock! Ill try not to do that again but boy did the other people on the dock like the show! correction: F14's land on carriers, not F16's. I knew this i just posted at 5am hehe

Landing

I have had a couple of those. We were going to sail in to the dock and then wind kind of shifted and we let the sails loose but the wind was from behind us. Going much faster than I wanted. Did get a line out but still hit the dock. Of course whenever you do that there are people watching. One guy down about 2 slips was watching. I said what do you do in that case? He laughed and said that wasn't to bad. He had run into the dock some time before and the boat actually went about half way up the dock and almost hit some people who where going to try to help. At least it made me feel a little bit better. Rob Morton S/V Euphoria
