I tried the archives and never could find a good answer. Does anyone know what the (1986) H23 headsail dimensions were. As best i can see it shipped w/ a 110% Genoa. I'm sure mine has stretched and am about to buy a new one from North Sails it looks like. but....i want to be real sure of the dimensions since this is not one of their "stock" sails and they don't have the hunter OEM dimensions. My other genoa, OEM origional, is at SailCare right now being cleaned and repaired and i will put it to spare so....i cant just measure it and even if i could i'd bet that the dimensions have "stretched". btw, the dimensions i did get off my old sail are: Luff = 25'10", leech = 22'10", footm = 10'6".

AutoCAD

I put our H23 IJEP dims in AutoCAD in scaled them to check out the maximum luff we could have. With I = 26' J = 8'6 P = 25'8 and E = 9'9 you could have a maximum luff of 27'4. That would use up every inch of the forestay. I doubt if that is a good idea. The dims you give should work just fine and plays out to be about 130%...

Thanks Steve...

guess i'll triple check everything and go ahead and order. north sails has about the best price looks like...and their reputation seems pretty good.

North has the best price???

I've bought North Sails before but it sure wasn't because they had the best prices. Usually they tend to be one of the most expensive. What loft are you talking to? Were they cheaper than the Doyles thru this website?

north sails price

north sails quoted me 330.00 + shipping on the dimensions i sent them. Steve says those dimensions, (in my first posting), equate to about 130%. doyle shows 490.00 for a 100% and 555.00 for a 135%. the 330.00 at north sails seems about right as they sell a stock cat-22 jib for 314.00 as i recall. that is what i was looking for origionally as h23 headsails are not usually a "stock" item and the cat-22 works out to be about 110% for my boat i think. (i cant swear to my calculations here since i cant find for sure what h23 oem dimensions are supposed to be to compare it too.)

oops, my bad, not north sails price :O

i've got prices form so many places and on different sizes that i got them mixed-up. the 332.00 proce is on a rolly tasker headsail coming via national sail supply

The Sail Warehouse is the lowest on prices

If your really counting your pennies then check out the Sail Warehouse. They sell the standard O.E.M. jib for $295.00. Don't ask me about quality or service. I've never delt with them, just looked at their website. I would image it's similar to what came on the boat from the factory. As far as the dimenions of the sail, they show. Luff 22.80 Leech 20.00 Foot 10.75 L.P. 9.35

Rolly Tasker and Sail Warehouse

The Sail Warehouse is as cheap as anything I found. I bought a new main and a new jib for my O'Day 20 and they were great. After buying my H23 I went back to the Sail Warehouse for a new H23 main. For what it's worth, the two O'Day sails had Rolly Tasker's logo on them! The H23 main had a Sails East logo on it. All three sails are/were beautiful and worked/work great for me on lakes in Minnesota.

thanks everybody

i guess i'm just getting more cautious in my old age. i researched till i was sick of researching and then just gave-up and measured the boat and had a sail made to fit. still don't have a definitave on oem dimensions tho. the dimensions on the sail warehouse website are aprox 2' shorter in both luff and leach than the headsail i have. i had assumed it was oem as it is a neil pryde and i know about 1986 some neil pryde sails were being used. anyway, i ordered a rolly tasker mid/coastal cruising weight, double seamed and shipped for 401.00. i mostly just gave them my dimensions off the boat and had them run it through their design program. it came up with about what i had give or take some stretch. its supposed to be 110%. 25' luff and 22'+leach....somewhat bigger square footage than the sailwarehouse size so i am still questioning oem size. oh well, as long as it fits! thanks again to all who helped!
