REPOSTING HERE FOR ALL HUNTER OWNERS....
The 23 has surface mounted cabin side lights. With about a dozen 3/4" screws.
I am installing new lexan smoke plastic and need to know which bedding is best.
There is no frame with which to apply even pressure (keeping the lexan from buckling and eventually cracking vertically from each screw)
The screws spaced 8 to 10" apart, and only penetrating the glass cabin skin.

I have a little teak which could become a frame, but it would not be 'original' to the design. A welded stainless frame seems a little overboard but I am open to any suggestions.

Recapping... 1. Which bedding? And 2. Anyone with a better design before I blunder forward?????
Thanks, Rich

When removing an old window, you will need to clean the surface area of all old debri and that is a must. If refitting with a new window, then make sure it fits and use the old window as a template for the screw holes. If drilling lexan, make sure you go slow and do not be forceful; otherwise, you will crack the lexan. If you do not exactly match the screw holes, then you will need to predrill for new holes. You can always fill the old holes with the new caulk. Do lightly sand the area of attachment for better adhesion.

There are many caulks used under different names but the best I used for years to replace windows on the Hunter trailerables is Ace Hardware "Archetectural Grade 100% Silicone item number 11959.

I genaerlly have masked off the area where I apply the silicone and even on the window to minimize my mess. Feel free to liberally caulk to include the individual screws. Press the window gently in place. Any excess will ooze out and that is good since you will know everything is caulked.

You can spit or use alcohol on your finger to apply any area smooth but make sure you clean your finger everytime. Alcohol is perfectly ok to clean up with as it will not affect lexan. NEVER USE ACETONE ON LEXAN. THIS IS ONE THING I NEVER HAD AROUND WHEN REPLACING A LEXAN WINDOW.

It is ok to use acetone when cleaning up the old mess but never when applying the new window as it will etch it badly. In other words, acetone is bad.
I hope this helps you

Thanks Crazy Dave.
Yup... The prep is looking good. I hadn't thought about the Acetone. I'll put it back on the shelf and bring out the denatured alcohol. I had just about decided to use Butyl rubber due to its adhesiveness. Your repeated use of the Ace-architectural grade silicone encourages me to purchase it, testing for adhesion prior to slathering it all around. Thanks again for your reply.
