Does anyone have a bimini or dodger on there H23? I want to get one made but dont know the functionality and if it will work. If anyone had some pictures that would be great, or if they have tried with no success tell me your story! thanks
That is me, close hauled a the dock in 0 knots. I decided if i couldnt sail that day, i'd at least get a picture with the sails up. my furler jammed like usual with one wrap left on there (line is 1/16" too heavy). I couldn't find a picture of the bimini open though
I think i will talk to the local canvas man next tim ei see him eat the docks and see what he can quote me! (oh course i will see what he says and then see if i can do it myself! hehe)
My bimini is very similar to Brian's (different color though). Yes you have to contort yourself to see the mainsail telltales but that's a small price to pay for some shade and comfort on those hot, sunny days. Biminis are also useful for sailing in the rain. Why not buy one from the HOW Chandlery? The link is at the top right of this page. Good luck.PeterH23 "Raven"
I have just ordered one from www.coversearch.com. I checked all around and it seems like that was the better deal. I also asked other Hunter owners where to go to find one. I have a 240. The top I ordered is 96" wide x 54" high x 6ft(3bow)=$325.00. I talked to the source and they said I could trim the main support off some to get it to fit under the boom. I also ordered a 24" track and plan on mounting it on the toe rail. I fish in the evening. With the track, I could take off the mainsheet, tie the sail over to one side, and slide the top forward. It may even go up enough to keep rain out of the cabin at night. Don't know yet. It is not due to come until this thursday. The last time I went sailing in 95deg heat with no shade was a most uncomfortable trip.
A bimini is a necessity for my 1st Mate to sail. On my H-26, I am about to retro-fit my bimini with a clear window so I can look up and see the Windex on top of my mast. Using Sailrite materials, I figure I can complete the project for less than $50. If you are going to make yours yourself or have it made locally, you may want to consider this small, but useful option. BrianW
