Hi, I'm looking at a H23.5 water ballast. doesn't need it now but was thinking about the future. what holds the side windows and the front window in the boat. I'm used to seeing a trim ring or screws etc on all of my other boats. You can see nothing from the outside, just the lexan sitting there, and then on the inside the upper liner covers the window edges completely up. are the windows just bonded there from the outside? what would be the process for replacing the windows should one of them get damaged or starts leaking? thanks James Breland

The Archives Has Great Info

James, the windows are held in only with a sealant, such as Dow Corning 795 (used by Hunter). There is quite a bit of info in the archives. Just use keywords "portlight", "portlite". "skylight", or "skylite". Also, try keywords making each of the above 2 seperate words (e.g., sky light). If you call Hunter Tech Support, they can talk you through the replacement or rebedding process. Hunter asks a pretty penny for replacement portlights ($95 for the small side portlight). Local glass companies can save you lots of $$ by making locally. BrianW

Brian is right.

Mine is a 1994 model and after 13 years the starboard side pot lite is just starting to leak in one little spot. I think the only reason the starboard side is beginning to leak is due to the continued southern exposure and it is drying out. The tech support people at Hunter are great. Al at Hunter talked me through the entire process to remove the port and reseal it. They will even sell you the Dow 795 adhesive if you can't get it locally. It is a process that I am not loking forward to but there are worse things in life than resealing a port. Jonathan Costello
