Question; :redface:I read where a line was run from the tiller to the mast sheet anchor U bolt.It allowed the helm to be held while you allowed it unattended for awhile....poor mans 'tiller tamer"..lol
Has anyone tried this?......

part 2...what is the best way to anchor something/line to the metal tiller I have on board.
Like something you could hook a, "bungy cord"/or line to pull and hold to leward, when we heave-to?...like an eye bolt, or something on that order.
please advise guys and txs in acvance..mark<><

If money is an issue take a close kook at the tiller tame. For the price it is a reaaly simple concept made withreally crappy .materials. I have often thoight that when mine eventually breaks I would remake it out of a short piece of ss channel. The device works great, you can adjust the tension so that you can still move the tiller but it stays where you leave it. You don't have to constantly keep you hand on the tiller. Shouldn't cost more than $10 to make.

I attached a small 'u' on the underside of the tiller a few inches from the forward edge. I attach a bungee cord from it to the mainsheet u bolt .
It's very useful when single handed and you need to do something with both hands such as when raising or lowering the sails.
