As a recent purchaser from a now moved away longtime owner of this H22, I heard at the home lake from others that this boat was taking on water. I have not had it in the water yet, but suspect a hard bump on the centerboard-related issue. How can I see this pivot point and is there a way to inspect for damage issues??? Is there anything else to look at aside from the yukky thru hulls and valve related things? Suggestions for proper thru hull seacocks? Interested in conversing with other H22 owners at pnaeser@gmail.com Mine is a 1981. Thanks!

Pull the floor boards

If you pull the two wood floor boards on each side of the centerboard trunk, you will see 2 nuts about 3 inches apart on each side. Those bolts come up from the bottom and are attached to the bracket that hold the hings pin and the centerboard in place. When i got my H22, for preventative maintance, i pulled those bolts, and replaced the center pin with a stainless pin, and replaced the 1/4 inch bolts. I think that they were in the tune of 2-2 1/2 inches long. Remember to re-seal it with marine sealer or it will continue to leak. Also, check for cracks and what not at that time, i installed a bilge pick up tube down there as well since i had the floors up. If you have any other questions, just ask.
