H22 Daysailer Mast Crutch Mount Broken

I didn't even get the boat home before the mast crutch mount broke. The crutch pins into a mounting "socket" that twisted off of the mount shearing the screws through the fiberglass.
Looks like a poorly executed design. Anyone else have issues with this? I would think adapting the crutch to the rudder gudgeons would be a more robust mount.

Ideas?

When I bought my well used 170, it didn't have a mast crutch. After searching pictures of Hunter 170s with the mast crutch attached, I fashioned one from a 2 X 6 and a couple of pieces of angle hardware. I drilled out the angles to be a little larger than the rudder pin and spaced them to fit within the gudgeon. I'm sure there are fancier options, but this works fine.

I have a Hunter 216 and haven't had a problem with the crutch mount and don't recall seeing that as a topic here. It sounds like a construction problem with your boat vs a design flaw. Just my thought.
