I recently acquired a salvaged H22 for my Boy Scout Troop. Boat was cheap, but with some obvious and not so abovious problems. Repair budget is even cheaper, so any $ saving hints are much appreciated. I've removed all inside wood and need to replace the main cabin bulkheads. They had deteriorated top and bottom appparently from leaking sideshroud fittings at the top and retained water pooling at the bottom. Removing the starboard bulkhead required (I think) cutting it horizontally at the seat level. Is there a way to install that bulkhead replacement in one piece? or was the original installed before the cabin top has added? Any suggestions for making it better than original and avoiding the leak problems? More questions about other restoration activities will follow. Thanks for your help. Rick

2 starboard bulkhead

The starboard bulkhead needs to be made in 2 pieces to get it back in. The original must have been installed with the caion top removed. I cut mine right at the height of the seat and screwed both pieces to a strip of wood after it was installed. I am still trying to find the leaks in mine. I resealed the chainplates but I am still getting some water leaks. I am going to remove the rubrail and reseal the deck joint this Spring. I hope that this finally stops the leaks.
