I am in the middle of replacing my bulkheads. It seems a lot of you have done this before. I need some advice:
1. what kind of rubber caulking should I use when fittiing the new bulkheads back. the stuff Hunter had in there was not silicone rubber. Seems more like butyl rubber. Any thoughts?
2. The new bulkheads I cut don't fit snugly against the sides of the boat. I don't think it matters much since they are screwed into the fairbody anyway. Am I really losing anything (stability, stiffness, etc.) if the bulkheads are not snug against the outside of the boat? Seems to me they are there really just to hold the chainplates and give support for the deck. Any thoughts?
