For some reason the mast on my 1994 H19 does not want to seat flush on the step. Is this normal? There seems to be a large gap in the forward part where the mast sits on the plate (see photos).

I cannot see anything preventing it from seating flush. Any ideas?

Alot depends on the wires if stretched over the years and tuning of course. Do you have alot of weather helm? Suggest that you send me your phone number to davecondon@mindspring.com aand I will help you sir as it would take too long to write.

He has yet to sail the boat and I told him to see if there is too much weather helm first before doing anything. If very little I advised him to leave all alone as it is ok that way for this boat

I have a 1998 hunter 240 and I have the same issue. Does anyone think that tightening the halyards would fix the problem? Should there be any play in the halyards?

look at what I said to check on weather helm but also make sure the standing rigging is taunt. This has notheing to do with the halyards sir.
