I'm interested in obtaining a cruising chute for my H 19. Would appreciate any advice from those who have already obtained such. thanks and good sailing.

Usually, a sail loft has those measurements in a book. Try that angle first

Made an H19 cruising spinnaker at home

I had an old Lightning spinnaker which had a luff length roughly similar to the H19 foretriangle. Cutting a triangle off the foot, hemming it, and reattaching the clew was really pretty easy. It does not fly as well as a sail made by a real sailmaker would, for example it only draws well between about 120-140 degrees off the wind, and the ligher the wind the touchier it is. We only fly it in up to about eight knots of breeze. In 3 knots of wind it will give us 2 to 2.5 knots boat speed, in 7 r 8 knots of wind it will give us 6 to 6 1/4 knots boat speed. This is a HUGE performance leap over just main and jib! A friend recently got a cruising spinnaker from JSI for his trailerable (not a Hunter) and is very happy with it. Fresh Breezes- Doug King
