I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place. This is my first post, but when I bought my 2003 h466, it didn't have the salon ottoman that allows people to sit on the starboard side of the salon table, as well as providing valuable storage space and a secure hand hold while under way. after extensive web research and several calls to Hunter to sell me one (apparently they don't have these for any year h460 or h466), I'm turning to the Forum for help - has anyone found a place to get one of these units replaced? Any ideas? Thanks.

Short of building one which should not be a big project, you may be out of luck. Was the boat originally built without one?

Don, the boat did have the salon ottoman at one time, you can see the marks on the floor board and the nutplates. Building one wouldn't be out of the question, if I had one to copy.

I've seen boats in which an owner replaced the settee with lounge chairs. I infer it's not possible for you to contact the previous owner. What I'd do is look on Yachtworld for a 466 nearest you which is for sale and take a trip there to do some measurements and take pictures to replicate it. If necessary, bring the broker a bottle of scotch or case of beer and he'll probably help.

I have tried to contact the first owner of the boat through the broker, with no luck. Putting something else in there is not going to work unless it's bolted down. I need a secure hand hold to hang onto while moving about the cabin when under way. I'm just going to have to find one to copy or find one that somebody is willing to sell.

Maybe the new Hunter Marine has one laying around ?

I wish. I have called Hunter Marine several times. They are very nice and always take a message but never get back to me.

I suggest that you email them. They should be getting back to normal in the next few weeks so I would have patience.

I did send them an email, but never heard back from them. I'll wait a week or two and try again.

Well Steve I just got a reply from Hunter, so they must watch this forum. They said no extra ottomans laying around and they won't make me a new one. They told me I'm just out of luck.

I'm not in San Diego any more. I've sailed up to the Central Coast of California. You're right it is basically just a box, but there is a little more to it. I think it has a stainless steel hand rail and a bent wood back rest. I'm trying to keep the boat original as possible.

You could look at H466s or h460s on Yacht world and get a good idea of what they look like. Pictures are nice but you would need actual dimensions to build one. Mine is very handy for storage of light items. In port I place it parallel to the front cabin and next to the seetee and that extends that "couch" so I can stretch out and watch TV comfortably. I'd send you pictures and dimensions but I am in Coos Bay, Oregon and the the boat is in Bremerton, Wa.

E-mail them again for the drawing of the ottoman. They quite often have these old drawings. Between a drawing and a few photo's you should get something like the original unit.
