We have been leaking a teaspoon of oil for about every 2 hours of running, The yard winterized the boat, changed oil and filters, etc., but says leak is by the timing cover, and that there is a broken temp switch. This is my first experience with these folks. Has anyone else had this problem, and/or had a differnt source for this kind of leak? Am I getting a snow job? We would appreciate your experiences and comments!

Where's the problem here?

You tell the mechanic you have a leak, he tells you where he believes it's coming from. Housings break. Pipe threads break. Gaskets blow out. I've seen this happen many times on lots of different engines. All you need to do is poke around in there to prove or disprove it. Diesel lube oil is quite black and fairly easy to see. Rub your finger around the area. If it comes out black and slippery you've found it. Then your biggest decision is whether to let them do the job or not.
