On the 77 H-33, there are two holes in the chain plate opposing the mast where I presume the shrouds (only two) are secured. 16inches aft or so (on each side)there is another deck fitting with a single hole that looks like a rigging mount but it is not secured to a chain plate but merely the cabin top. What is this for?

H33 rigging

It may not help you, but most H33's of 1980 or so vintage have 2 lower shrouds, and one upper shroud for a total of 3 chainplates on each side of the cabin that go through the deck and are secured to a structural member inside the cabin. Some of the 1977 H33's are made differently, according to previous posts on this site, so you have to be careful to make sure anyone who gives you advice is talking about a similar rig. Are you sure your boat is rigged correctly? Sometimes people do stange things.
